Three Fisherman Drown in Motagua

Divers from the Guatemalan Red Cross in Santo Tomás de Castilla recovered the bodies of three fishermen who drowned in the Motagua River when fishing last Thursday.

They were identified as Jairo Roberto Hernández Muñoz, 16, Wílber Geovanny Cruz, 28, and Juan Carlos Vargas, 28. Al three lived in the aldea Choctaw

It was learned that Vargas was a football player and played as goalie for several teams including Real Motagua, Sacachispas, Deportivo Jocotán, Deportivo Gualan, and Real Amatense.

The Red Cross said that six frogmen took part in the search, which lasted 72 hours.
